Outdoor fleece blankets for cool evenings

This one works differently from the rug and the pillow, and it is worth being clear about how. The rug and the pillow live outside. The blanket goes outside and comes back in — onto a chair by the fire pit, over your knees on the porch in October, into a basket by the door the rest of the time.

It is not a weatherproof product and we would rather say so than have you leave it out in the rain.

What it is

100% polyester fleece at 315 gsm, 50″ × 60″, thick and soft on both sides. The print is on one face; the reverse is matching plain fleece. Hemmed edges, with the seam thread matched to the design.

Plain fleece is a deliberate choice over sherpa. Sherpa feels more luxurious in a shop and behaves worse outdoors — the high pile holds moisture, dries slowly and collects everything it touches. Plain fleece holds its shape and dries quickly, which is what an evening blanket actually needs.

One warning, and it matters

Keep it away from the fire. Polyester melts rather than chars, so a spark that would leave a small hole in wool will leave a melted mark in fleece. Sit a chair back from the fire pit rather than beside it.

Care

The only machine-washable thing we sell. Wash separately on a cold gentle cycle, maximum 30°C / 90°F, and tumble dry low. Do not bleach, do not iron and do not dry clean — heat is what damages polyester fleece, not water.
